We have received an enquiry regarding future fundraising for our local firefighters. At this stage we have not had any discussions in this regard. However such fundraising will no doubt be on the agenda for discussion at our first meeting of 2020.

It will be held on Tuesday 4th February at 6:00 pm. If you would like to participate in the discussion please come along to the meeting.

The photos below were taken on New Year’s Eve during the firestorm.

Message received today from Ann Sudmalis:

From Australia Post to Ann Sudmalis:

WANDANDIAN COMMUNITY POSTAL AGENCY

As per conversation earlier this afternoon, we have received verbal notice from the CPA that they propose to cease trading from next Thursday the 29th.

We will introduce alternative delivery arrangements from Tomerong PO pretty smartly so there is no uncertainty for locals, while we go about re-establishing a “normal” service for them.

We will be talking with local businesses who may be interested in taking over the community service.
Just be aware, as I mentioned, that we might have a brief hiatus in the service locals are used to enjoying. We’ll do our best both to fill the gap in other ways and to minimise how long it lasts.

From Ann Sudmalis:
I am hoping this is a brief time period and I have sent details of one local business who may be interested in taking on the service, and I am just about to send a second set of information for Australia Post to pursue.

The Wandandian Progress Association have been busy raising funds to complete Stage 2 of the Wandean Road Community Pathway.

Stage 1 was completed in February with some welcome support and financial assistance from the Shoalhaven City Council. The Machinery work for the pathway was done by local volunteers .

To raise funds for Stage 2 raffle tickets were sold and a Hangi and Music evening was held in the local hall Saturday 3 June. Being overwhelmed with interest, 140 Hangi tickets and 761 raffle tickets were sold raising just over $6,000.

Wandandian Hangi

A great evening was had by all and although the Hangi meal was a little late coming out of the ground, no one really seemed to care as they rocked away to the fabulous 70’s music of the V.I.C.E Squad from Vincentia. The band started at 6pm and they were still going at 11pm. The Hangi fire and a couple of fire buckets burned and kept some outside while others danced the night away inside the hall. The atmosphere was fabulous as was the food, the music and the company – a great mix for a great evening.

Congratulations to those who won prizes in the raffle and the lucky Door Prize.

Wandandian Progress Association would like to thank those who participated and helped raise this money for Stage 2 of the pathway where work will commence once the ground dries out enough.
